Maths & History

This week Year 4 visited the Mary Rose Museum, at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. They took part in some challenging maths activities – discovering what pi was (3.14) and how to calculate the diameter of a shot fired by a canon, as well as working out capacities for tankards used by the sailors. The children were given a tour of the museum, and were able to handle some of the original artefacts which were found, including a 700 year old piece of wood used for building Henry VIII’s famous navy vessel.
