New Principal

United Learning are delighted to announce that, after a rigorous selection process, Mr Cliff Canning has been appointed as Principal of Hampshire Collegiate School from April 2017.  Mr Canning has over twenty years’ experience in education, with a background in both independent selective and non-selective maintained schools.

He is currently Deputy Head of St Christopher School in Hertfordshire, where he is responsible for teaching & learning and operational performance.

Previously, he was director of the International Baccalaureate programme at Bedford Girls’ School, embedding the highly academic route across the school.  In addition to his work at St Christopher School, Mr Canning is a governor of two local schools. He is married with three grown-up daughters, is a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC and Irish rugby and a keen motorcyclist.

During the selection process, the panel were struck by Mr Canning’s enthusiasm for the role, his strong educational vision for Hampshire Collegiate School and his exciting ideas for developing the school, which he looks forward to sharing with our current parents and prospective parents too.
