Pupils at Hampshire Collegiate School (HCS) have raised over £1,000 for charity.
HCS senior prefects have raised £1024.73 for two charities BASICS and Children in Distress selected by the Student Council.
The money was raised by a variety of events which included a staff-versus-pupil football match, a non-uniform day and a home-made cake sale. Over half the money was collected in December, when the sixth formers sold candy canes to pupils around the school.
The prefects would to thank everyone who supported their fund-raising activities, and to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Humbugs Sweet Shop in Latimer Street, Romsey for generously supplying the candy canes to them at a discounted price.
Humbugs manager, Mr. Alan Smith said he was delighted to be able to help the pupils raise money for such worthy causes. He went on to congratulate them for their hard work.
