The Early Years Provision at Hampshire Collegiate School (HCS) has been acknowledged by Hampshire County Council as ‘Outstanding’ in all six of the areas reviewed.
A county assessor spent time with teachers and children in both nursery and reception classes looking at the quality of the provision, as part of Hampshire County Council’s ‘Self-Evaluation Joint Annual Review’ scheme.
HCS scored 68 out of a possible score of 72, with the opportunities for physical play listed as ‘a strength of the setting’ as well as the development work that has been done on increasing access and quality of using the outdoor environment for learning, which was graded as being of ‘high quality’.
HCS Prep School head teacher Mrs Elaine Hooton said: “We were delighted to receive this recognition from Hampshire County Council. Since this scheme began we have consistently been awarded the ‘outstanding provision’ grade in all areas of our Early Years work. The children in our early years’ classes are extremely responsive and eager to learn. We have very supportive parents who work hand-in-glove with us to ensure that their children’s first experiences of school are very positive. I am also delighted that the dedication of our talented teaching team, to bring out the best in every child, has been recognised in this way. ”
