Article Published in National Journal

The Head of History at Hampshire Collegiate School has had an article published in History Review, a national academic Journal aimed at sixth formers and undergraduates.

Dr Russ Foster’s article entitled ‘Florence Nightingale Icon and Iconoclast,’ sifts myth from reality in the life of ‘The Lady with the Lamp’.

The publication of this article links with an event at the school later this month when one of the world’s leading scholars on Miss Nightingale, Professor Lynn Macdonald  will visit the school, from Canada, to deliver a lecture to Senior School pupils and members of the public.

Lynn McDonald is known as the director of the Collected Works of Florence Nightingale, a huge undertaking projected to encompass sixteen major volumes.

The lecture: ‘Florence Nightingale.  What she was and what she was not – 100 years later.’ will take place on Wednesday 17 March 2010 at 7.00pm.
