A Week in Politics

The main contenders for the Romsey and Southampton North constituency visited the school and experienced some probing questions from pupils.

The politics department organised question and answer sessions for liberal democrat MP
Sandra Gidley and conservative party candidate Caroline Nokes, who was accompanied by television chef, Clarissa Dickson Wright.

Amid the National excitement seven HCS Senior school pupils put themselves forward for the school election on 6 May. Parties represented included the Three Wise Men, the Bacon Alliance Party and the All Starz!

Over 300 pupils voted and Year 9 pupil Emily stormed to victory as the only female candidate. Regrettably, Emily, on behalf of the ‘Meliorist Party’, campaigning on a programme of fairness for all and a cleaner environment had to turn down a position in the new Prime Ministers Cabinet in order to focus on her upcoming exams!
