Pupils raise over

Prep school pupils at Hampshire Collegiate School have raised over £2,500 for charity by taking part in a sponsored walk around the school grounds.

The money will be split between two worthy causes. The first, to support the educational and health needs of children in Madagascar and the second to support the Arctic Mummy appeal (
www.artic-mummy.co.uk).

Collectively the children walked over 750 miles and were joined (in person), by ‘Arctic Mummy’ Mrs Jo Winchcombe, who walked alongside the children pulling a large tyre in preparation for her forthcoming trip to the North Pole.

Yesterday, school prefects presented the first of the two cheques to Mr and Mrs Macartney (whose sister is a doctor in Madagascar, and who helps to administer how the HCS fundraising money is spent). The artwork in the background was created by Year 6 pupils and shows the colourful fauna and flora found in Madagascar.
