Oak Tree Inspires Poetry

Year 2 used their senses to explore the huge oak tree outside the Prep School. They wrote adjectives to describe what they could see, feel, hear and smell and then used these words to help write poems about the tree. The poem below was written by Millie.

I am an oak tree whistling in the wind,
I am an oak tree creaking in a summer storm.

I am an oak tree plip plopping in the wet, wet rain,
I am an oak tree freezing in the February cold.

I am an oak tree with knobbly, rough bark,
I am an oak tree dancing in the wintery night.

I am an oak tree with papery leaves,
I am an oak tree with a leafy coat in Autumn.
