Pupils from Hampshire Collegiate School (HCS) welcomed a former Olympic hockey player to their training session recently, joined by pupils from Bournemouth Collegiate School (BCS).
Field hockey player David Faulkner, who won a gold medal with the British squad at the 1988 summer Olympics in Seoul, took a coaching session for the U14 boys, to help enhance their core skills and tactical play. This was followed by a fixture, in which HCS beat BCS 9-1!
David is currently sports performance director working with the English Hockey
Federation and is helping develop hockey for the 2012 Olympics. After the match he gave the boys a fascinating presentation about 2012 hockey, and pupils also had the opportunity to hold the gold medal from Seoul!
