Boarding at HCS is, as far as possible modeled upon being "a home away from home" - it is the personal touches that make all the difference.

You will find recently redecorated rooms which are comfortable and warm, with, in very many cases, superb views of the 120 acre estate.  Rooms are spread throughout the West Wing, the exact living quarters that Florence Nightingale enjoyed herself during her many years at Embley Park.

The facilities at HCS are unrivalled in sophistication following over £ 15 million of investment.

You will find a tastefully furnished living room in the Nightingale Room, full of period charm and all modern comforts.

A new breakfast room facility with adjacent snooker table and TV adds a cozy nook for boarders in the evenings and at weekends.

Facilities are open at the weekend - so for budding artists and musicians boarding provides so much more access to those serious about their development.

Weekend activities for boarders includes target shooting, equestrian processes, archery, golf, fly-fishing, and well wrought trips combining culture, cuisine, and good shopping!

There are up to 12 trips each year - active weekends reduce feelings of homesickness.

SKYPE connection allows students to contact their parents each Saturday - and our boarders' computer facility gives great web access for educational purposes.

Saturdays provide ample opportunity for competitive sports against strong opposition, and with 68 co-curricular choices rotating through the terms you can experience so many things you may always have wanted to try.

We all believe that great boarding, in a great boarding school, should have at its heart a kind of 'boarding curriculum' - not narrowly defined, but expansive so that interests can be developed.
