Drama is an essential part of the curriculum and provides children with opportunities to develop their confidence and social skills in different ways.
In Key Stage one pupils have drama incorporated in their lessons through speaking and listening and role play.
In Key Stage two lessons are a separate part of the curriculum, incorporating improvisation and development.
We try to maintain a link to English and History lessons as this ensures children are applying knowledge to their work in a different context.
We have visiting companies to extend this learning further.
Drama is an active subject which involves children listening and working together and the level of commitment and enthusiasm found in Drama lessons at HCS is outstanding.
LAMDA examinations are offered as well as our annual Verse Speaking Competition.
Children are encouraged to audition for the opportunity to take part in a pantomime as part of an after school club.
Year 6 children have the opportunity to perform in a production at the end of the school year.
