Drama

  • Drama is an essential part of the curriculum and provides children with opportunities to develop their confidence and social skills in different ways.

  • In Key Stage one pupils have drama incorporated in their lessons through speaking and listening and role play.

  • In Key Stage two lessons are a separate part of the curriculum,  incorporating improvisation and development.

  • We try to maintain a link to English and History lessons as this ensures children are applying knowledge to their work in a different context.

  • We have visiting companies to extend this learning further.

  • Drama is an active subject which involves children listening and working together and the level of commitment and enthusiasm found in Drama lessons at HCS is outstanding.

  • LAMDA examinations are offered as well as our annual Verse Speaking Competition.

  • Children are encouraged to audition for the opportunity to take part in a pantomime as part of an after school club.

  • Year 6 children have the opportunity to perform in a production at the end of the school year.

  • Past productions have included
    • ‘Bugsy Malone’
    • ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
