Drama is an essential part of the curriculum and provides children with opportunities to develop their confidence and social skills in different ways.
In Early Years and Year 1 pupils have Drama incorporated in their lessons through speaking and listening and role play. From year 2 upwards lessons are a separate part of the curriculum taught in our specialist Drama room.
We try to integrate cross-curricular links so children apply their knowledge from English, History, Science and PSHE to their Drama lesson as this ensures children are applying knowledge to their work in a different context.
We have visiting companies such as The Shakespeare Company to extend this learning further.
LAMDA examinations are offered each year. Last year, once again, the results were excellent with a 100% pass rate, 49% of the children being awarded a Merit and 45% a Distinction.
Our Annual Verse Speaking Competition gives children the opportunity to share their talents with the rest of the school and in front of Senior School judges.
Children are encouraged to take part in a pantomime as part of an after school club. Last February ‘Cinderella Rockerfella' was performed by a cast of Year 3 to 5 children.
