Visiting the school and open events

One of the first and most important steps in our admissions process is for you and your family to come and see the school for yourself, and to start to get to know us.

Open events

Our popular open events take place throughout the year. For details of our next open event, please click here

Individual visits and tours

We will be very happy to arrange a private appointment for you to meet Mr Canning, our Headmaster, and have an individual tour of the school. Individual visits can be arranged throughout the year, at a time that is convenient for you. If you are thinking about boarding, we can arrange for you to have a tour of our boarding house and to meet our house parents.

Reception 2018 - We still have some places available for Reception entry in September 2018.  Please contact our Registrar, Mrs Jo Baird, on 01794 512206 or registrar@hampshirecs.org.uk to make an appointment for a tour of the school.

Registration

You can register your child for a place at our school by completing a registration form and providing a registration payment of £50 (£100 for pupils joining from abroad). Places are very popular so we suggest you register your child as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Taster days

Your child will be invited to attend a taster day so that they can get a feel for what life is like on a typical day at Hampshire Collegiate School; they can get to know other pupils in their year group, try out our lessons and meet our teachers.

Entrance assessments

If your child is joining us in Year 1 to Year 6, they will be asked to sit baseline tests in English and Mathematics. These tests usually take place as part of the taster day. For the Senior School, your child will be asked to sit our entrance assessments and attend a short interview with a senior member of staff. Entry into our Sixth Form is based on academic success, a suitable reference from the Head of your child’s current school and a successful interview with Mr Canning, our Headmaster. All candidates are expected to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 5 and at least grades 7 or 8 in the A Level subjects to be studied.

Accepting a place

Having completed the application process, Mr Canning will write to you and let you know if your child has been offered a place. To accept an offer, we’ll ask you to complete and send to us an acceptance form and a deposit of £250 (£2500 for pupils joining from abroad). The offer letter will provide further instructions about how long the offer is valid for and when you will need to respond by.

Progress through the school

All pupils who join us at one of our younger entry points will enjoy a full career at Hampshire Collegiate School, proceeding through our Senior School to study GCSEs and onto our Sixth Form to study A Levels. All pupils will sit our entrance assessments for entry into Year 7 at the Senior School and progression onto the Sixth Form is normally assured by a combination of appropriate behaviour, hard work and academic success.

Please contact our Registrar, Mrs Jo Baird, for further information about our admissions process on 01794 512206 or email registrar@hampshirecs.org.uk.
