Formula 1 Technical Director to speak at next HCS Nightingale Lecture

We are delighted to announce that James Allison from Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Formula 1 will be our guest speaker at the next event in our HCS Nightingale Lecture series for Sixth Form students, which will take place at the end of January 2018.

James is currently the Technical Director for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport F1 and supported Lewis Hamilton to win the 2017 Formula One Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship in his first year with Mercedes. During his successful career, James has also played a pivotal role in triumphs for Michael Schumacher at Benetton and Ferrari where the latter team won six World Constructors’ Championships in James’ six years with the team. Following this, James led Fernando Alonso at Renault, Kimi Raikkonen at Lotus and Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari before joining Mercedes at the beginning of this year.

The HCS Nightingale Lecture series is designed to provide our Sixth Form students with the opportunity to participate in a formal dining experience, hear from an interesting and charismatic guest speaker and learn to confidently and maturely discuss pertinent issues.

Embley Park, now the location of Hampshire Collegiate School, near Romsey in Hampshire was the family home of Florence Nightingale from 1825 until her death in 1910. It is also where, in 1837, Florence Nightingale claimed she had received her spiritual calling into nursing from God and went on to serve in the Crimean War.
