Silver Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition

During the the Easter break, 10 Year 10 and Year 11 students successfully completed their three-day practice Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the Purbeck area of Dorset.

Despite very muddy conditions and significant rainfall on the first day, everyone was in good spirits and both teams managed to work together well. Navigational difficulties were efficiently overcome, camp-craft skills showed steady improvement and both teams arrived at the third day’s final checkpoint on time, despite earlier deviations.

Thanks go to all staff and volunteers involved in the trip and to parents for picking up promptly back at school.

The next step for these groups, in addition to signing off their individual sections, is their assessed expedition in June, after the final GCSE has been taken.
