Our GCSE Drama students performed their 2019 ‘Showcase’ in the school’s Performing Arts Centre (PAC) in readiness for their assessments later this month. The Showcase comprised two components: ‘Devising Theatre’ by Year 10 students and ‘Performing from a Text’ by students in Year 11.
Application of performance skills, interpretation of the extracts and audience engagement are some of the key factors in determining exam success, so an opportunity to put these skills to the test in front of family and friends was considered very worthwhile.
The students performed with conviction and confidence, entertaining their audience with a diverse range of performances. The work they produced was of very high quality, demonstrating the motivation and enthusiasm that they have for their Drama studies.
“To perform our piece that we have all been working so hard for in front of a live audience was amazing and thrilling. I loved every piece that was performed as they were all so different and showcased each student’s talents. To be among the audience and feel the suspense and laughter that each performance created was worth all of the time and effort we have all put in.” Lucy, Year 10
“The showcase was amazing and it was a real treat to see how the older students in Year 11 approached their scripted performance pieces. I think it has helped and motivated us to prepare for next year.” Daniel, Year 10
“I really enjoyed taking part in the showcase and finally seeing all my hard work come together. It was such a useful task in preparation for my GCSE exam.” Taylor, Year 11
