Congratulations to Callum, Year 13, who has recently passed his Gold Young Equestrian Leaders Award (YELA). The Young Equestrian Leaders Award (YELA) is an award scheme for the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) designed to recognise the time and effort young volunteers give to equestrianism and shape their experience, so they become equestrian leaders of the future.

Callum systematically worked his way through Bronze and Silver before completing the Gold Award which required him to complete at least 60 hours of volunteering with three different British Equestrian Federation (BEF) member bodies. In addition, Callum designed a poster, gave a presentation and organised a One Day Event (ODE) for the younger members of Hursley Pony Club. Callum will be presented with his award at a VIP event at Olympia international horse show in December.

Callum’s report and project was so well received he has subsequently been asked to write a piece for ‘Pony’ magazine which may appear in the next issue.
