Thank you to the pupils and parents who have already shared their stories of relatives who have been affected by war. Please keep sending in your stories to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Hampshire Collegiate School Archive of Remembrance website will go live after Half Term. We’ll let you know as soon as the website is available so you can learn about soldiers such as Walter Herbert Stevens and Daniel Phee who fought in the First World War.
Your story could be about ancestors who served in the First World War, women who worked in the munitions factories, grandparents who were evacuated in the Second World War or relatives who have served in conflicts since 1945. Also, in a global community and as a school with an international perspective, we are keen to be as inclusive as possible and to share in a collective memorial.
We would really like to see some photographs of your relatives, as well as any letters, postcards or poems written by soldiers, pictures of medals, ration books or any other documents and artefacts from the time.
These individuals and their stories will become part of our memorial and will be used to create a digital HCS Archive of Remembrance which will be publicly shared and preserved for years to come.
Please include as much of this information as possible with your submission:
- The name of the individual and relationship to the pupil
- Rank and regiment (if a soldier)
- Date and year of death
- Recollections (max 500 words please)
