Hampshire Collegiate School presented a truly joyful production of High School Musical for three performances on 29 and 30 November 2018, with each performance to a ‘full house’ of enthusiastic audience members. The show embodied the term ‘feel-good’, with its uplifting musical numbers and heart-warming storyline that encourages each of us to follow our dreams and passions. The production featured a cast of 40 pupils from the Prep and Senior Schools, all of the much-loved songs from the original film and a range of exciting and colourful characters, which was brought to life by our talented young performers.
The High School Musical cast began rehearsing the show at the start of the academic year, giving them a mere 10 weeks in which to learn all of the dialogue, music and choreography! The students worked with admirable energy, enthusiasm and passion in their creation of these bold characters and absolutely did themselves proud. It has been a complete pleasure to work with these talented and hard-working young people. In addition, we had a superb backstage crew, made up from pupils in Years 7 – 10. The crew worked as an outstanding team and ensured that all aspects of the production ran smoothly. These pupils deserve their own standing ovation!
We are already excitedly planning next year’s musical and are looking forward to working on other Drama productions next term.
