Hampshire Collegiate School (HCS) has launched its first Primary Mathematics Masterclasses in association with the Royal Institution (Ri). Pupils in Year 5 and 6 from HCS and visiting schools were nominated by their teachers to attend this series of workshops which are led by Ri experts and HCS A Level Mathematics students.

This series offers pupils an opportunity to investigate mathematical ideas beyond the curriculum and explore the wider aspects of the subject. In the first workshop, pupils investigated the shortest path between cities using bubbles as a natural algorithm.
