A record 23 students from Years 10 and 11 completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Assessed Expedition in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean at the end of June. In four teams, they had previously planned and mapped out their routes, covering a total of approximately 45km over three days. They had chosen a variety of aims from ‘Top Tips for D of E’ to ‘Flowers’ and demonstrated excellent teamwork throughout in some challenging situations due to unfamiliar surroundings and demanding temperatures.
Well supported with water refills by our accompanying staff and encouraged all the way by Mark their assessor, all four teams completed the expedition successfully despite occasional navigational difficulties which caused long detours in some cases. Many of the participants have already completed their individual sections, so once their expedition presentation has been submitted, these students will have finished their award and will be ready to move on to the Gold level.
Congratulations to all who took part.
