Physical Education

Our Physical Education programme provides every student with a platform to explore sport and exercise and to foster a positive approach towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Throughout the curriculum, students not only develop their physical abilities but also other core skills such as teamwork, leadership and perseverance.

A typical programme of Physical Education in any of our Senior School year groups can cover up to 12 individual activities, including but not limited to sports such as handball, lacrosse, football and athletics, as well as activities such as outdoor team building and fitness training. This is complimented by our extensive Games and co-curricular programme and the use of our facilities onsite at the school which include a swimming pool, 9-hole golf course, all weather astro, sports hall, tennis and netball courts, as well as extensive playing fields and fitness suite.

To enhance this experience, we also provide practical workshops with professional athletes, such as Alex Danson MBE (Hockey Olympic Gold Medalist) and Serena Guthrie (England Netball). Our students have the opportunity to attend professional fixtures, for example, Premiership rugby and international netball, as well as hear from inspirational guest speakers such as Bonita Norris (the youngest person to climb Mount Everest in 2010).

In addition to curricular PE, students have the opportunity to study GCSE Physical Education and develop a wide range of skills and techniques through theory and practical assessments. Students have the opportunity to develop their sporting performance as well as exploring new sports, with regular and in-depth feedback and discussions to help students hone their skills and expertise on the subject. Students will be assessed in three practical sports and they will produce a personal exercise programme as part of the course.
