Senior School

Science

Science opens up an opportunity of building knowledge, developing new and creative ideas, solving global problems and enabling us all to make informed decisions about our future.

We have six well-equipped and spacious teaching laboratories and our students work through to their Science GCSEs with all the resources necessary to ensure that they reach their full potential. Our team of specialist teaching staff have a wide range of interests and qualifications ranging from marine biologists to engineers and botanists to military weapon designers.

Our classes are small, allowing us scope to explore and develop individual talents. We have high expectations and aim for every pupil to exceed their potential. We use practical science whenever possible with a focus on developing scientific enquiry – testing ideas and drawing conclusions from the evidence collected.

To develop Science within the wider school environment, we continue to expand our co-curricular provision. Science clubs, support sessions, national competitions, university visit and challenges, external speakers and a wide variety of trips ensure that every pupil can experience the impact of science beyond the classroom.
