Last week, our Gold Duke of Edinburgh group consisting of Year 12 and Year 13 students successfully completed their assessed expedition on Dartmoor.
They walked over 69 kilometres in the wild countryside of Dartmoor over four days, and camped at wild sites for three nights. They carried everything they needed in their rucksacks, having worked hard to reduce the weight of their kit, and they collected water from streams, purifying it to make it potable.
They didn’t experience the cold and snow of their previous challenge but coped incredibly well with the heat and energy-sapping sun. For these six students, the expedition is the culmination of over a year’s worth of training and preparation, and we are incredibly proud of their personal development on their Duke of Edinburgh journey.
