Since the beginning of the Summer Term, every student in Years 7 and 8 has been involved in the production of a play, giving them a mere nine lessons in which to create a performance, which is a huge achievement in itself. All students worked with admirable enthusiasm and were a joy to direct.

Each student performed in both a named role and in the ensemble in their play. Our young performers took the audience on a magical, theatrical journey through different lands and times, in stories by some of the country’s most treasured children’s authors, keeping the audience thoroughly entertained!

7A presented Roald Dahl’s The BFG, creating the story’s bold and entertaining characters with joy and excitement; 7B presented another well-loved Dahl tale, The Witches, delivering the rhythmic dialogue with commitment and twisting the dark storyline into a hilarious and memorable performance; 8A performed Blue Beard and Beauty and the Beast from Carol Ann Duffy’s collection of stories, ‘Beasts and Beauties’, utilising physical theatre to present a highly theatrical and engaging version of these well-known tales; and 8B produced a tremendously engaging, fast-paced and comedic performance of Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations by Alan Ayckbourn, finishing off the evening with a vivacious and energetic play.

Congratulations to all performers on such a successful production!
